A beautiful book, written in a classical style, without any chases, murders, corpses.
Although not without an element of the mystery.
The book can be dedicated to women-to their perseverance, courage and the ability to survive in any conditions.
The idea in the book is also that, no matter where you are, there is always something in nature that can be admired and there is always something to learn.
Respect for all living things, no matter how meaningless the existence of these living beings may seem.A beautiful book, written in a classical style, without any chases, murders, corpses.

Almost tangible description of the severe climate, you feel really uncomfortable.
There are so many names of law enforcement personnel that you get confused about who is who.
Recalls real case of Robert Pickton

Somehow a one-sided description of the period of life in Yugoslavia during first years after the Second World War. I do not know how are reliable the facts described, from the point of view of historical truth, but it seemed to me a one-sided coverage of what was happening at that time in this geographical area after the war, like those who fought against the Nazis represented as some kind of enemy.
From the point of view of the human factor, sometimes it is hard to read about what is being described.
This book reminded me in part a book “Like water to the chocolate” and partly “Twin peaks”, despite the fact that there is nothing in common neither in the plot, nor in the place where everything is happening.

Abracadabra in a Victorian-style house, which appears, then disappears. Each chapter, depending on the period of time reflected, has its own characteristics in the descriptions, corresponding to that length of time, interspersed with humor.

This is a book about exorcism. It is clear. There is no latency, hiding meaning in title.
It's also about friendship between teenagers and how real it could be, and what are you willing to do for the sake of your friend.

Excellent book. Without extra pages, all characters, even episodic ones, written almost tactilely.
The action does not always take place in Canada, and not always in winter. But it always felt the breath of the cold Montreal winter, and not at all intimidating, rather, on the contrary.
The title of the book perfectly reflects the content. Allegedly a peaceful ball, but just shake it, and inside - a storm.
It seems to me that this is the nature of the Canadians - author herself used the words “silent Canadians” - seemingly calm and kind, without showing their emotions and inner storms and experiences. But depressed inside feelings and emotions, often result in tragedy.Excellent book. Without extra pages, all characters, even episodic ones, written almost tactilely.

Reading this book I wanted to say, Well, it's enough, we understood, understood, how beautiful and sexually attractive the protagonist is. In the course of the whole narrative is described the increasing sexual tension between the main characters. And with the same descriptions of the magnificent muscular body of the protagonist. This is really funny. It seems that the author has an obsession for this kind of men.
If it were not for an excellent description of the storm and the climatic conditions of the place where the action takes place, then this book it’s not worth reading. Well, also there is some knowledge of surviving skills.Reading this book I wanted to say, Well, it's enough, we understood, understood, how beautiful and sexually attractive the protagonist is. The author posses a good knowledge of San Francisco.
In the book there are some flaws, it seems to me from the inattention of the author or the editor. For example, you read an episode where there is a dialogue, and then through some pages, again there is a dialogue about the same topic, serving as something new.
But in general it was interesting read. Although there are sugary moments, for example, how it ends - everything is good, everyone calmed down and began to drink beer and look at the sky...The author posses a good knowledge of San Francisco.

This book has many perturbing scenes. But, even so the book is captivating.
I’m wondering, if whatever is described in book it’s what is waiting us in the future?
The ending is terrible, leaves a feeling of hopelessness because there is a tragedy that affects a child.

In general, the book is interesting. Grief, after losing a loved one, can manifest itself in a much unexpected way. The question arises: how someone could think of re-educating difficult adolescents with Greek tragedies?

A very strange book. It is clear that there is an issue about environmental pollution, and how it affects people. But the book is written in such a way that it seems that the mystery is about to be solved, but in the end, there is nothing like this.

It immediately feels that the author has worked for many years as a journalist, wrote articles in newspapers, because in this book there are too many descriptions about the daily race of journalists, who are willing to do almost anything for a twist, no matter what.

The first half of the book is a little confusing because of the composition of the narrative: from different persons in different epochs. From the second half it becomes clearer and more interesting. A book about the underground resistance of representatives of the German intelligentsia in the period preceding the Second World War, when Hitler and his party gradually came to power in Germany. The efforts of people who are against Hitler's policy, to warn the world about the impending catastrophe. The struggle is interspersed with love, loyalty, betrayal, jealousy, dedication to the cause, and how differentially each of characters behaves in different situations and perceives what is happening. The first half of the book is a little confusing because of the composition of the narrative: from different persons in different epochs. I began to read, and there was some kind of annoyance- another guru who "teaches" how to live, with emphasis on the fact that the main success in life- it material welfare.
But anyway I read it to the end. I have liked some thoughts. In general, I believe, that this book can be in something useful for a particular age group, from 16 years to 30 something’s. It is directed to those who live in relatively favorable conditions, where there is no war.I began to read, and there was some kind of annoyance- another guru who "teaches" how to live, with emphasis on the fact that the main success in life- it material welfare.

I continue to hold the view that all books of the series I have read so far, the first I liked the most. Although it can be said that with this one, came some improvement. In writing you can feel that there are two authors: one is writing dialogues, and another one is dedicated to more complex descriptions.
I didn’t like the fact that authors decided to "kill” a particular character, which, in my opinion, should not have been subject to this fate.
Well, the nature of the main character is all the same - cold, and the impression is, that throughout the book, only what she does is heats the water in the kettle for tea drinking.I continue to hold the view that all books of the series I have read so far, the first I liked the most. I took this book in a hurry. I started reading and immediately wanted to quit reading it, thinking that it is not worth wasting time on another soap novel. But as continued, I started kind of liking it. Marriage, betrayal, duty, soul-searching, honor...
The interweaving with theme about God seemed to me not quite appropriate.

For me it was interesting to learn about some of the traditions of the native North American Indians, which they are following up to now, at least, at a time in question of the book - - 80s of last century. The confusion in the mind of a teenager, who was swept by challenges of adult life, which he decided to solve by himself. At times, the book becomes tedious. Books of Oates have specific compositions – like passages from the fragments.
After reading this book, the impression is that during writing author was in an evil mood, she hates its characters.
