Lots of gruesome scenes. Not too much difference between victims (parents of murdered child) and perpetrators-who are more sadistic.

There was hope that the final book of the series would be as good as the first one. That did not happen. All the same Frieda, without emotions, like an automaton.

It feels that the author has paid a lot of attention to writing this book. And yes, if I am not mistaken, he was writing it during several years.
Different epochs, different circumstances-but always surprisingly accurate language describing each period of time and emotions of every involved character.

From the first pages I immediately had a feeling-oh, one more from "I see dead people".
But then, the reading was more and more fascinating. Not only because of the plot, but also because I think that the author is intelligent, observant, able to philosophize-asking eternal question, for example, - why do good people have to suffer?
And in the end-she kind of spoiled "five star" rating by describing on several pages explanatory dialogs. It was not necessary. Readers are not fool and can understand everything without this boring bla-bla-bla.From the first pages I immediately had a feeling-oh, one more from "I see dead people".

Pa de deux, pointe work, fouette, entre...
The whole book is filled with ballet terms. What is understandable, based on its content. Y for someone it could be interesting. But I was a little bored.
Author kind of skips something important, she describes some facts from lives of characters but doesn't go into depths of emotional experiences. Like she's trying to fit fast all facts of life into one book. But the attempt remained just an attempt.
But thanks to this book , I began to search for more information about Nijinsky family, and this search was interesting.Pa de deux, pointe work, fouette, entre...

Perhaps the topic of the book is of concern to many people. But to me it seemed that the author have limited to give examples from the lives of sick elderly patients that he met during his career , including members of his own family. He's asking rhetorical question over and over-what should be change in a medical approach to treat those who are dying. But he himself doesn't have an answer-how to do that.Perhaps the topic of the book is of concern to many people. Untimely content. It would have been popular in the late 90s-early 2000s, when admiration for luxury living of so-called stars was at the peak.
Boring. There are moments of tention when it seems that something exciting will happen, but nothing happens.
It's annoying - description on almost every page of huge mansions with its rich but tasteless decor-so-called antics delivered from Europe. Maybe in past centuries someone was using those antics as a night pot. But now they are became proof of taste and wealth.
Author, while trying to be on the side of those who live in much modest conditions than characters of the book, cannot hide her admiration for life of those who live in areas such as California's Bell Air. Influence from her job as a realtor.Untimely content. It would have been popular in the late 90s-early 2000s, when admiration for luxury living of so-called stars was at the peak.

Suspense is heated with every subsequent chapter in each of which appears new facts about life of Oliver, both, from himself and from stories told by those who met him in the course of life.
For me, at the end, there was no moment for exclamation-what a turn!
On the contrary, the feeling of some everydayness. As if- everybody lived happily ever after.
Character of Oliver seemed to me not quite real. Usually those who grew up without a love of the parent, in adulthood try to be unlike the ones who brought them so much sadness. But here, Oliver is doing everything to win his father's love, to become worthy of attention of person who didn't have any feelings for him and just considered him as annoyance.Suspense is heated with every subsequent chapter in each of which appears new facts about life of Oliver, both, from himself and from stories told by those who met him in the course of life.

The book was written in 1972, if I am not mistaken. Since then, it has written a lot of reviews, some of which are so linguistically twisted, that you will not understand anything. As they say, if you write pretentiously, mayby someone could consider you an intellectual.
I do not know how much the author's views remained the same as in the period of writing the book. Here anyone who destroys and treats animal world and nature , as its vassals, named Americans, strangers, enemies.
I liked some ideas of this book, but from the point of view of action, there is nothing significant happening in it.The book was written in 1972, if I am not mistaken.
