The eight women who star in these stories are of very different ages, but they all face great challenges: the machismo that surrounds them every day, the family that silences them, the workplace that discriminates against them, some inconsistent friendships or the unstoppable passage of time. In the background of each of these stories lurks the idea that any of them can be interchanged with another, thus annihilating all forms of female individuality and turning them all into an anonymous Miss Kim, the most common surname in the country: a ghostly and omnipresent character who bears all the injustices that weigh on women in contemporary society. What Miss Kim Knows sketches a feminist fresco of South Korea through the masterful and sharp prose of Cho Nam-joo, who critics already consider a reference for the struggle of women and the most important voice that has emerged in Asia in recent years.
