More than a decade after his passing, Mister Rogers (AKA Fred McFeely Rogers) is still very much in American's hearts and on our minds. We're still remembering the unassuming man who was the much loved, empathic centerpiece of over three decades of children's public television programming. He's an unlikely icon of the sort of kindly, gentle parental figure many young people longed for. We turned to him for entertainment, but also came away loved and a little bit wiser. You can learn more about Mister Rogers' lasting impact in the award winning documentary Won't You Be My Neighbor? (2018) and in the Tom Hanks starring biopic, A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood (2019). Tacoma Public Library also has other books and DVDs based on the life and work of Fred Rogers. These items are an opportunity to get to know more about and share the enduring life, philosophy and creativity of our good neighbor.
