This book was kind of hard for me to rate fairly. On one hand, it read similarly in style and tone to all the previous Bridgerton books, which I rated anywhere from 2.5-4 stars. If the heroine had been anyone other than Hyacinth, I would have probably rated it on the higher end. With it being Hyacinth, I could not for the life of me picture her any different than the very young girl she was in the previous books, acting like the appropriately immature girl that she was. While 22 wasn't young for the marriage mart, her being the baby of the family exacerbated the age issue I had. At the same time, Gareth's characterization made him seem far more older, which messed with my head even more. Don't even get me started on things of a sexual nature. Another moment in the story that lowered my rating, was Gareth's ulterior motive in seducing Hyacinth before their wedding. This was the second time I've been disappointed in this author's questionable choice of a main character's motive. Aside from Gareth's hiccup, I enjoyed much of the story arc and secondary character interactions. The age issues with Hyacinth are all on me and my warped psyche.
