This was a great, fun and easy book to read; a highly entertaining romance. I laughed out loud many times, but I also got misty-eyed several times as well. It really hits all the emotions in well-timed hills and valleys. There are quite a few UK references and use of slang that can be a bit confounding at times (like what is IRN BRU?) so I looked up some, but not all of them. The story is strong enough to ignore these if you want to, but I highly recommend looking up what a Calippo is when that reference is used near the end of the book. I couldn't stop laughing at that one! The one major flaw I found with the book was the male lead character Lucas who seems to be a real unicorn of a guy; very noble, patient, self-aware and quick to apologize. If only! This is the first book I've read by Mhairi McFarlane, but it will not be my last. Highly recommendable!
