I would have liked to rate this movie higher, as the subject is very important. But the delivery could have, and should have, been much better. Can't blame it on the cast (which was very good). Perhaps the editing... The first 30 minutes were distracted and annoying wasted screen time. When it finally settled down to the story, it just didn't spend enough time on what Gary Hart's message was (brilliant and prophetic). It finally got to its point about how salacious/irresponsible journalism can distract from what is significantly more important. How ironic that 28 years later, a candidate COMPLETELY lacking in morals or competency actually becomes President, shaming us on the World stage and making our political system a mockery of democracy. Politicians trying to convince us that "capitalism" EQUALS "democracy". (They are most decidedly NOT the same thing, and not mutually exclusive either!) We should have heeded Hart's warnings; paid more attention to what was truly important. Question is: Have we learned our lesson? Had the movie been more clear on that message I may have given it 5 stars rather than 3.
