As she struggles with her grief, Emilia learns that the bookshop is in poor financial shape. Despite a handsome offer from a developer, Emilia takes the plunge and resolves to honor her father's memory by running the bookshop. As she becomes more settled, Emilia becomes involved with the residents and learns about her father's impact on the village. This novel, full of endearing characters, classical music, and English customs, could easily be made into a movie. This novel is the Willa Cather Book Club's August 2019 selection.
