"Multi pass." One of the 90s most ridiculous movies is an over the top sci-fi lollapalooza that rips off 30 years of genre movies, tries to be funny, and throws in a love story for the heckuva it. French hack auteur Luc Besson, who came up with the idea for the movie when he was a teen, throws everything on the screen, and, at the very least, there's always something to look it. Most of the actors seem to have been given totally different directions: Bruce underplays, Gary Oldman, sporting absurd hair and a Southern accent, overplays, Ian Holm looks lost, Milla Jovovich has orange hair, and Chris Tucker, well, Chris Tucker. Maybe the most obnoxious performance of the decade. On the plus side, the costumes were designed by Jean-Paul Gaultier, musician Tricky has a small part, and it's not boring. Besson would return to sci-fi extravaganza with his recent "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets," which was just bad bad, not good bad.
