Contemporary Folk, Americana I think Mary Chapin Carpenter is kind of like Bob Dylan. She's a Lifer. She keeps making albums, some of them not so good ; but then she comes back with one like this, a really nice return to form. This may not be as great as her masterpiece, "Come On Come On", but it deals with deeper subjects_ Growing older, picking yourself up, carring on after Love leaves, after Life crushes your dreams, taking chances. I stopped listening to her during the 2000's. But i'm glad to hear her writing some good stuff again. These aren't sing-along tunes, but i'm happy (and sad) to hear em and would like to hear em again.
