A good book for preteens needs characters that the tweens can relate to, a good plot with a clear problem and satisfactory resolution. "The Scandal" meets all these conditions and gets my vote for a great book though I'm not a member of the target audience it is aimed at. More importantly, the book discusses the merits and demerits of Standardized testing at the middle school level a very popular current topic. All in all a good read- you'll do well to include this book on your Birthday or Christmas gift list for your favourite preteen.
