This book has both good and bad sides, but I think that overall it was a good book to read. The good side of the book is the characters and the drama. I found some of the characters likable and interesting, like Pip, Gordon, Leo, and Tyler. Also, the dramatic side was very well written, and I was attached emotionally to it. Now the bad side is the mystery side and the characters' thoughts. I can't say that I saw the ending coming, but it wasn't a ''wow'' level, like I wasn't impressed or something. And the characters' thoughts were the worst. Firstly, from the first third of the book, I couldn't see that Clare loved her husband or missed him, to be accurate SHE MISSED THE DAYS THAT THEY SPENT TOGETHER, and I was shocked when I read Adele's reaction when her daughters drank champagne, like she didn't talk to them or tell them that it was wrong or something. She just thought that it was romantic. Also, I found it weird for a good girl like Pip to not tell her mom that the gang was taking drugs, at least to protect her sister. Regardless of all the flaws, I found The Girls in the Garden to be entertaining and suspenseful in some parts, and I wouldn't mind reading a book by Lisa Jewell again. - @rahmamawlood of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library
