The Unexpected Consequences of Love introduced me to this author, who is apparently very popular in England. It's easy to see why: while the story is labeled as "chick lit" by some, one shouldn't feel that label is derogatory. True, it's light reading, but it's well-written light reading with multi-dimensional characters, complementary subplots, and realistic settings, conflicts, and action that draw in the reader without being melodramatic. It's an excellent story to listen to in the car (which is what I did), or to read either on a lazy Saturday or during down-time on a vacation. I'll certainly be reading more of Mansell's work in the future.
