The Recruit

the Graphic Novel
Oct 26, 2014
The Recruit by Robert Muchamore is a graphic novel that is not recommended for young readers. The book is an enjoyable book with many action scenes but is easy to understand and does not lead you to have more questions than answers in the end of the book. The book starts off when James mother dies and his father leaves him. Then, at the social workers the next day, he gets separated from his sister. After that James goes to his house to collect some things then goes to live at his friend’s place. Then he sees a counsellor and is expected to tell the counsellor his feelings. But James walks out of the counsellor’s office. He goes to a convenience store and gets arrested for trying to shop lift. He spends the night at the police station. But when he wakes up he does not know where he is. James thinks it is a school but he finds out that it is a base where people train teenagers to be spies. He starts to train right away with an obstacle course, mental tests and intelligent tests. James does poorly on all of them but still moves to the next level of training. Every night for six days James trains in fighting, wilderness survival and shooting. James passes the course and is a spy ready for operation. Read more to find out what happens to James. The Recruit is a great book with action and adventure. Also, it is a graphic novel so there are colourful images that add to the story. The plot is easy to follow and to understand. There are no downfalls to the book.
