There are signs that this series is maturing along with the Baudelaire's and the readers. They are forced to face Count Olaf and make difficult moral decisions. As they watch others around them give into evil decisions they ponder the question of responsibility. This tale has many creative elements due to the environment of the Carnival wannabe atmosphere. There is also social commentary once again on mob mentality which is oh so difficult to watch happening. Looking forward to the Slippery Slope!
