I put off watching this forever because it didn't really interest me but I decided to give it another try when I realized what a great cast was involved. At the risk of sounding racist ( and I sincerely apologize in advance), I usually don't like movies where the cast is predominantly black but I love Queen Latifah. Despite the fact that Alicia Silverstone, Kevin Bacon and Andie Macdowell are in this as well, the only character I liked was Queen Latifah's. I was reminded of her character in Last Holiday because as in that film, she had an upbeat personality that made me want to be friends with her. As for the others. I'd only really seen Alicia Silverstone in Clueless and it was nice to see her in a different role, but I hated her fake southern accent and her constant paranoia that no one liked her because she was white got old really fast. I was surprised at how racist this movie was and that they not only used but discussed the N word. Kevin Bacon's role as Jorge was horrible and although his accent (which is listed as Australian on the closed caption and is absolutely NOT Australian), was bad, I don't fault his acting. He did the best he could with a horrible role. But then again. I didn't like Andi McDowell in her role either. Really surprised that she and Kevin would take roles like this. The storyline was better than I expected but again the racism really turned me off. There is a major plot point involving Kevin Bacon's character that fell completely flat after coming to a head and that didn't make sense at all. There are better movies with a great cast out there than this. Much better.
