One trouble-making dog brings together two perfect strangers in this USA Today bestselling romantic comedy full of "fierce humor and fiercer heart." (Casey McQuiston, NYT bestselling author of Red, White & Royal Blue)

Two years after losing her fiancé, Sloan Monroe still can't seem to get her life back on track. But one trouble-making pup with a "take me home" look in his eyes is about to change everything. With her new pet by her side, Sloan finally starts to feel more like herself. Then, after weeks of unanswered texts, Tucker's owner reaches out. He's a musician on tour in Australia. And bottom line: He wants Tucker back.

Well, Sloan's not about to give up her dog without a fight. But what if this Jason guy really loves Tucker? As their flirty texts turn into long calls, Sloan can't deny a connection. Jason is hot and nice and funny. There's no telling what could happen when they meet in person. The question is: With his music career on the rise, how long will Jason really stick around? And is it possible for Sloan to survive another heartbreak?

Please read The Friend Zone first, or TFZ will be spoiled for you.

After having read The Friend Zone and loving it, I have been anxiously awaiting the release of this novel. I really enjoy book series in which the characters overlap and you get to continue to watch beloved characters' loves unfold while also learning more about minor characters as their stories take center stage. While I didn't find this story to be as amusing as The Friend Zone, it still lived up to the hype. Kristen did provide some comic relief whenever she graced the page, but Sloan is a more serious and intense character. The love story was fast paced and perhaps, a little too good to be true. The author actually did a nice job of acknowledging and explaining it when she had Kristen comment on the fact that Sloan loses herself in her relationships and other areas of her life. The obstacles that this couple faced seemed realistic as Jason's fame grew and the associated pressures and demands made it difficult for the two main characters to carry on a "normal" relationship. I appreciated the fact that Jason's sympathetic character stayed true to form and sacrificed his own happiness for Sloan's. I always enjoy a romance that also involves the heroine finding her own happiness and fulfilling her own goals and this novel did not disappoint in that arena. While this novel was not as outright funny or as gut wrenchingly sad as The Friend Zone, it did have a nice balance of the joy of falling in love and the pain of making difficult choices. The author also has a knack for including lovable and quirky canine characters and Tucker brought a wonderful amount of hilarity and joy to the story. His presence made the story more believable and lovable. I would definitely recommend giving this one a read, if you enjoy romantic comedies and absolutely do not miss The Friend Zone!
