Born with an unnatural ability his mom urges him to keep secret, Jamie can see what no one else can see and learn what no one else can learn. It was very different. Not one of his best. I did enjoy it, as always.

SK will always hold the title of master of horror, especially being so prolific, but Later is not horror, no matter how often throughout the novella he tries to convince us that it is. Readable, but not indelibly imprinted in my mind as most of his others are.

Not quite as epic as some of King's previous books, but a cool story all the same. The twist at the end was one I didn't see coming.

Jamie Conklin is a perfectly average kid in all ways but one: He sees dead people. He even talks to them, sometimes, before they fade away and eventually disappear in the days following their expiration. Some of them have amazing stories to tell and they *always* tell the truth. When Jamie's mother gets involved with a crooked cop and makes the mistake of not keeping Jamie's gift to themselves, things get really interesting. All kinds of doors open up when the dead can't keep their secrets.

Crime, mystery, and supernatural horror that is most bizarre, but it's the life in his characters, the sense of knowing them, and the perfect illustration of time and place that really sells it all enough to scare the daylights out of you. He's done it again!
