What is it like to learn that your ordinary, loving father is a serial killer? In 2005, Kerri Rawson heard a knock on the door of her apartment. When she opened it, an FBI agent informed her that her father had been arrested for murdering ten people, including two children. It was then that she learned her father was the notorious serial killer known as BTK, a name he'd given himself that described the horrific way he committed his crimes: bind, torture, kill. As news of his capture spread, Wichita celebrated the end of a thirty-one-year nightmare.

What a great book!!! I really enjoyed reading it. Stay strong Kerri. I wish you and your family lots of happiness in the future. It must have been really hard for you to air your dirty laundry so to speak.

I feel so sorry for Kerri Rawson for having a monster for a father named Dennis Rader/B.T.K. she and her family are victims too.

This book drew me in like a bad accident draws gawkers. It made me think about how difficult it would be for the families of people who have done terrible things. However it also made me angry that NO ONE in the author's family ever thought something was terribly wrong with their father, a serial killer. There definitely were clues that he had issues with controlling his behavior throughout the author's upbringing. The other part I had a hard time with was how believing in Christ was what finally brought the author peace. If only it was as easy as believing in a god...

Very good book that helps you understand what Kerri and her family has gone through because of her dad.

What would you do if you woke up one day to an FBI agent at the door, telling you that your beloved father had just been arrested as an infamous serial killer? To Kerri Rader, her father was a devoted and supportive dad who was always there for her, albeit with some odd quirks and the occasional outburst of temper. This is her story of her struggle to come to terms with gaining the unbearable knowledge that this man whom she loved dearly had brutally killed 10 people: women, children, neighbors. Kerri shares her life story of growing up with Dennis Rader, and how her and her other family member's lives were shattered when it was eventually revealed that the man she knew as Dad was the BTK killer terrorizing Wichita, Kansas. Serial killers are portrayed as loners and eccentrics; this story reveals all too shockingly that they can easily live amongst others undetected. The tone of the book is extremely preachy, although it can be understood that Kerri needed something like religion to help her get through the whole experience. Not your typical "serial killer" book.
