This is absolutely top-notch nonfiction for middle schoolers. It takes a real event and relates the story in compelling terms that never feel sensationalized or like the human scope of this tragedy is lost sight of. It's sad without being too grim, well-researched, page-turning, and absolutely perfectly executed. Hand this to fans of Steve Sheinkin's books -- this is similarly high-quality and compelling.
