Rihanna’s eighth album, Anti is an album that grows on you. It was overhyped at first, but if it is listened to more than once then it isn’t that bad. The album is a mixture of her earlier work and the work before this album released. Each song on this album is great on its own and goes together to create a story about someone dealing with how complex romantic love is. In this album, Rihanna shows off her vocal abilities especially with Love on the Brain and Higher. The first listen to this album won’t be great, because it feels like a lot to take in since each tone of the songs are different. After the second time, you will end up loving it!

what is her new Album

The album sounds unfinished and full of demos. It's not her best work at all. She's had better albums in the past. On this album, she tried to experiment with an alternative R&B sound but failed.

There is no better way to start out 2016 then with a surprise release from Rihanna. Anti lives up to its namesake in that it goes against what you would think that Rihanna would typically release. It is an experimental R&B album more akin to Beyonce's Beyonce (2013) than Rihanna's previous pop infused work Unapologetic. There is no clear standout single, but what emerges in its place is a cohesive, dancehall inspired album that is best listened to from start to finish. With Anti, it feels like her most personal album to date, which is evident from her opening statement on Consideration - "I gotta do things my own way darlin'/will you ever let me/will you ever respect me/no." Her voice has never sounded stronger, and I credit this to her invoking the talents of some of the best producers in the music biz. Anti surpassed my expectations by a landslide, and it has become my new favorite Rihanna album.

I was saddened to hear that Rihanna had omitted the released single, "Bitch Better Have My Money" from Anti's track listing, but, thankfully, a lot of what I enjoyed musically about that song was dispersed throughout the entire album. Anti is a departure from Rihanna's previous sound, yet in the best way possible. It is so refreshing to see an artist grow and experiment with new sounds! Some great tracks are: "Kiss It Better", "Desperado", "Needed Me", and the "Same Ol' Mistakes". and my absolute favorite, "Love on the Brain". This track is Rihanna meets Amy Winehouse and it is a masterpiece. The only thing that could make it better is if Winehouse were alive today to collaborate with Rihanna herself.
