For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare - poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a U.S. Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force Tactical Air Controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events, inspiring Outside magazine to name him The Fittest (Real) Man in America. In Can't Hurt Me, he shares his astonishing life story and reveals that most of us tap into only 40% of our capabilities. Goggins calls this The 40% Rule, and his story illuminates a path that anyone can follow to push past pain, demolish fear, and reach their full potential.

I loved this book.
No bullshit, no whining and total self clarity.
If only I was able to do what this man has done which is basically accomplish victory over the self.
In any case, despite my inability to have the same discipline and focus, this book provided some guidance in how to initiate and complete life works.
What are life works? Anything you want to do to add value to your life and perhaps to the world.
Read this book if only to understand this man's tenacity.

I could not finish this book because it became quite perverse. This person is an extreme masochist and I started to feel ill towards the middle of the book. It is an interesting read, but way too much self inflicted pain and suffering. If this is what it means to self improve - forget it. What a lot of people do not realise about being tough is that it comes with a cost - sometimes death. You don't have to go to this extreme to have a successful life or be a confident person.
