Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer on the brink of financial ruin when she accepts the job offer of a lifetime. Jeremy Crawford, husband of bestselling author Verity Crawford, has hired Lowen to complete the remaining books in a successful series his injured wife is unable to finish. Lowen arrives at the Crawford home, to sort through years of Verity's notes and outlines, hoping to find enough material to get started. Lowen uncovers an unfinished autobiography Verity never intended anyone to read, with pages of bone-chilling admissions, including Verity's recollection of the night their family was forever altered. Lowen decides to keep the manuscript hidden from Jeremy, knowing its contents would devastate him. But as Lowen's feelings for Jeremy begin to intensify, she recognizes all the ways she could benefit, if he were to read his wife's words. After all, no matter how devoted Jeremy is to his injured wife, a truth this horrifying would make it impossible for him to continue to love her.

WOW.
This. Book. Messed. With. My. Emotions. I’m not even sure what to rate it because some parts were a 2 and some were a 5.
Like previous comments, I too had to take breaks in between reads. I could NOT understand how Colleen Hoover decided that writing a disturbing, gut wrenching booking was a good idea to make a “best seller.” I almost had to stop reading entirely but she has such a way of messing with you, I just had to fisnish. And the ending was CRAZY. I’m not sure I could recommend this book as a mother... but if you’re into twisted reads then this is definitely for you.

I read this in a day and a half. It has been many years since one captures me so quickly and held my attention the whole time! Worth the read!

Just what I enjoy in an over-the-top, juicy, and outrageous thriller: (possible) unreliable narrators/protagonists galore, plenty of twists and turns, and an author who really goes there with some seriously dark stuff. This is my first Hoover and I know she's very popular. And now I understand why: this was certainly a top-notch, page-turning, immensely readable little book.

A romantic, twisted thriller and one of the best by Colleen Hoover. Verity is a very popular author who is now in a coma but has a contract to finish her book series. Her husband Jeremy hires author Lowen to finish the series. However, what really happened to Verity? What about their girls? I kept going back and forth in this book on what was real and what was fiction. The ending is fabulous! The only thing I disliked was the heavy language and several steamy scenes!

A suspenseful thriller that kept me turning the pages. I kept trying to decide on which character I believed, and as more details were uncovered, I kept questioning my loyalty. This has flawed characters, an interesting plot, and an ambiguous ending.

Is there not an Ebook version in English?! I was so excited to get the ebook, but it's in another language. Where can I see on a book description what language it is written?

What did I just read? This book was insane. It is a classic case of "who do you believe?" This book follows Lowen who has taken a recent job to help finish the last 3 books in Verity's 9 part series after Verity becomes incapacitated from a car accident. Once Lowen moves in to do some research on the past novels, not all is what it seems in this family... My friends and I were literally screaming as I was reading this, it was just so shocking at so many times and in so many different ways. I was equally shocked to find out that Colleen Hoover is primarily a romance writer, and this was her first of this type (could have fooled me!). If you are looking for something to keep you on the edge of your seat DEFINITELY reach for this one!

I had to take multiple pauses throughout Verity because some parts made me feel physically ill. And not in a good way. Some parts are so intense and graphic that it makes you second guess yourself. Despite all the gruesome parts...it's so satisfying to read. Colleen Hoovers writing is utterly magical. The characters are so dynamic, and you honestly have no idea what to expect...even though i finished Verity months ago, I still have no clue what was real and what was fake. And I like it that way.

This was an absolute page turner. It ensnared my mind and I could not get it out of my head. I am still saying wow.... wow. Thrillers aren’t my usual picks but this one is a definite read. ...... I’ll remember this one for a while.

“The world was her manuscript. No surface was safe.”

“Some families are lucky enough to never experience a single tragedy. But then there are those families that seem to have tragedies waiting on the back burner. What can go wrong, goes wrong. And then gets worse.”
