From the acclaimed graphic novel comes an epic adventure about a world beyond imagination. Teen Barbara Thorson (Madison Wolfe, The Conjuring 2) is the only thing that stands between terrible giants and the destruction of her small town. But as she boldly confronts her fears in increasingly dangerous ways, her new school counselor (Zoe Saldana, Guardians of the Galaxy) leads her to question everything she's always believed to be true. I Kill Giants is an intense, touching story about trust, courage and love from the producers that brought you Harry Potter.

Well made movie but the title and graphics are so misleading so it became a disappointment. Good acting, but it's more a drama with special effects. If you're expecting a Harry Potter type fantasy movie, skip this one. I didn't watch the whole thing as a bit into it, I realized this was not a fantasy/fairy tale movie.

I didn't finish viewing this film. Storyline wasn't what I expected. I would watch it either with any child.

.
Completely misleading summary to an utterly boring film with a monumentally unlikable main-character.

I was not what I expected but I did watch it through to the end. looked for a different ending or even different plot. But it was not terrible not something I would add to my collection unless it was free.

A quirky, but thought provoking movie. I liked it, though when I checked it out, I had not read any reviews and did not know what to expect. It kept me watching until the end.

Although a slow starter, this film did keep my attention through til the end. I did appreciate the acting from the lead characters, Zoe Saldana (Avatar: 2009; Guardians of the Galaxy: 2014 & 2017; Avengers: Infinity War: 2018), Imogen Poots, Sydney Wade, and Madison Wolfe (TV & Film). It kept me wondering what would be the ending, as some I had guessed near the beginning, but was fairly well crafted and kept me guessing for the most part.
I have not read the graphic novel that it is based upon, but this film version reminded me of two better films, the 2006 Pan's Labryinth, and the 2016, A Monster Calls.
No bonus material on this DVD.

I found myself dragging through this film. It's very reminiscent of A Monster Calls, which is a brilliant book (can't say the same for the film), but tries too hard to stand out by tying in different challenges for the character. It's hard to tell if she is mentally ill, different, coping with the scenario she is dealt, or some combination of all three. By the end I firmly felt that this has not only been done before, but doesn't even shine in comparison to films of the same nature.

The "Harry Potter" comment on the case is a dishonest attempt to lure in Potter fans. Nothing like "Harry Potter", and the "Giants" in the title is more misleading bait.

It sets up an expectation that it utterly fails to deliver on. Disliked it a lot, but saw some potential, and if it hadn't tricked me into thinking it was something it wasn't my rating might have been higher.

I agree with the other comparisons to "A Monster Calls", which I did not like either.

"I Kill Giants" reminded me of "Bridge to Terabithia" except more gritty and without the overt Christian overtones. While this film tries to stick with the graphic novel fairly well it doesn't seem to have quite the emotional punch. Nevertheless, it's well done and worth the watch but I would also recommend the graphic novel.

All things that live in this world die. This is why you must find joy in the living, while the time is yours. And not fear the end. To deny this is to deny life. But... to embrace it.

Are you afraid?

Okay. Are you ready?
-Thank you. I'm all right. We're all going to be all right. We're stronger than we think.
