A friend of mine rented this movie and invited me over to watch - otherwise, I probably would never have seen this gem. What a fantastic movie! It captures your attention right away and holds it throughout the 2-1/2 hour run time. Although this movie has nothing to do with Quentin Tarantino, you wouldn't know by watching it. All of his trademark styles are present in this film: nostalgic soundtrack, slow-but-detailed character building, title cards for "chapters", violence, tension, you name it. All of the actors did well, although I thought the role played by Chris Hemsworth was too bizarre - not his fault, it's the character that's bizarre. And there was a scene that was overly sadistic for my tastes. But that won't stop me from borrowing the movie and watching it again. :-)

Saw this one in a theater and I had been to that hotel located in the North shore of Lake Tahoe as a child. Pretty well done with interesting characters and plot twists.

A great movie with several Oscar worthy performances. The biggest surprise was Cynthia Erivo. I would rate it six stars if I could. Difficult to say anything to avoid spoilers. If you like thrillers put this at the top of your list...way top.
