'The Late Bloomers' Club' is another charming book by Louise Miller following her 'The City Baker's Guide to Country Living'. Miller's writing is very reminiscent of Amy Reichert. As with 'The City Baker's Guide to Country Living' these are characters, the responsible sister, her hometown friends and neighbors, the free-spirit self absorbed but equally kind sister, you just want to know, to share some pie or Burnt Sugar cake with Maple Icing! I read it in a day and enjoyed every single moment of it.

Adorable! I couldn't out it down - another fantastic story from one of my favorite local authors.

This book is the perfect antidote after you've read one or more "heavy" nonfiction works. The setting (Vermont) is memorable, the characters believable, and the plot moves right along. Nora Huckleberry LaPlante is in her early 40s when life hands her a few surprises -- an inheritance she wasn't expecting, a possible romance she didn't see coming, and an eventual reckoning with her sister Kit. I read this book in nearly one sitting as I just wanted to read one more chapter. This is also the novel for everyone who wished that the big box store hadn't come to their small community.

A great story about sisters, community, small town, people helping people, a lost dog and a company wanting to take over a town. When Nora and her sister Kit inherit a house with land, a company wants to buy the land and develop it with homes and shopping. Kit wants the movie so she can produce a movie but Nora has other thoughts, as well as the town. Nora is dealing with her diner, the land, finding Peggy the cake lady's lost dog, and a possible romance. When an accident causes the diner to burn, the small town comes together to support Nora. As things begin to come together, so does the possibility of moving forward. A great small-town community book!

4 Stars - I recommend if you are looking for a fairly fluffy read, but with quite a bit of depth. Especially if you love the small-town setting and quirky characters. Think, Stars Hollow!

When Peggy the cake lady passes away suddenly, the town of Nora is left with a big hole in it. Nora, the owner of the Miss Guthrie Diner is surprised to learn that Peggy left her house and all of her land to Nora and her sister Kit. When Kit comes to town, she and Nora must decide what to do with their inheritance. Should they sell it to a big box store, to farmers, to summer people, or keep it themselves? As the sisters try to make decisions and re-visit their past, the town must band together as the diner is struck by hard times.

I immediately was drawn to the writing style of this book, and the town of Guthrie. It sounded so cute and charming, and I felt like I could imagine it fully. I also immediately struggled because the chapters were SO LONG. However, at about 40% I think I became more invested in the characters and the plot and breezed through the rest of the book. I loved the details of the town: the places, the people, the town meetings, the online message board, the sculptures, etc. I absolutely ADORED the ending of this book. The way things came full circle made me teary in a happy way! I recommend if you're looking for a feel-good fluffy book with more substance than others. ;)

I love people watching in this novel. Different characters & temperaments but my favourite is Nora she loves taking pictures of food, reading and walking in the woods. I love how she’s unsure of herself of how she looks and of her own potential. And she cares so much about other people. I love the family dynamics and the love for community; this story is so common yet still very true and touching.

Couldn't put it down! Loved the small town experience and really liked the great characters.
