Child catcher. Child. Catcher. Also: kid prison.

Another favorite from my childhood that still makes me smile as an adult. The songs are catchy and funny, and the story is ten kinds of adorable and funny. I do recommend a bit of parental supervision for the Child Catcher scene, though.

A delightful, lighthearted romp.

Unbelievably, this was based on a book by Ian Fleming, who created James Bond. And, for the adult viewer, you can have fun with all the Bond connections. Ken Adam did the sets, Gert Frobe, who played Goldfinger, co-stars, as does Desmond "Q" Llewelyn. Roald Dahl adapted the screenplay; he also worked on "You Only Live Twice." It's a very strange and whimsical children's film that has a lot of good parts but is too long and has too many songs by the Sherman Brothers, who mostly worked on Disney films. Dick Van Dyke wisely refrains from doing a British accent as he attempted to do in "Mary Poppins," a film with some obvious parallels. Look for Benny Hill in a small role.

I loved this movie from when I was young. The songs are wonderful and catchy and the movie is full of magic. I'm not sure the magic works on adults though. This movie is long, but there is an intermission so plan accordingly. There is also a scary child catcher scene that I used to usually skip. Love Dick Van Dyke also!

I think this movie was kinda boring, it's to old fashioned for me, I like my good Marvel movie.

Cheesy, unrealistic, unfunny-humour, I don't suggest this boring movie.

Movie achieved its iconic status because it was a modified UK Christmas pantomime with song, dance, buffoonery & slapstick. There was no cross-dressing by a guy to play -ahem!- handsome matron, but audience can't help to cheer the good guys & go boo-hiss on the villains.
The big difference that last years before Great War setting movie had a way bigger budget, way bigger sets, location shooting & it mocked spies & then Imperial Germany if indirectly.
Huh, the German actor who played Goldfinger played story within movie villain. Not surprising given book written by Ian Fleming.

Other then the DVD being slightly damaged it was still watchable, It brought back many of my childhood memories. Just wish someone will contact someone so we don't get damaged, or in my case slightly damaged movies thank you.
