Hailed as the Prince of the Forest at his birth, wobble-legged Bambi the fawn lives deep in the woodland with his mother. His youth is filled with friends--Thumper, a jovial rabbit who says all the wrong things; Flower, a skunk with an inferiority complex; and Friend Owl, misanthrope of the treetops. As he grows, fun-and-games give way to the hardship of winter and the most terrifying, ever-looming threat to survival--man. When the hunters come, Bambi must learn to be as brave as his father The Great Prince, and lead the other deer to safety.

How can anyone not love Bambi? Yes, I know that the fate of his mother is what shies people away, but this movie is so well done and has lots of sweet and funny moments. I love how it realistically shows Bambi grow up and he has to take on a newfound independence when the unexpected happens. But he does so with the help of some wonderful friends. I love the way this movie comes full circle. And the animation and music are beautiful. I absolutely love the song "April Showers" and the way they incorporated it into the film. Sadly they don't make classics like this anymore.

When it comes to pre-CGI animated feature films from Hollywood's "golden era" (1935-1955) - I, personally, rank "Bambi" from Disney Studios as being one of the very best and most commendable pictures of all.

Yes. This film's story definitely does start off on a typical "cute'n'cuddly" note that is certainly guaranteed to appeal to all of the kiddies in the audience.

But, for me (as a grown-up) - It's when Bambi matures into full-animal adulthood that this picture's story takes on a whole new perspective and actually delivers a bit of a wallop as it makes some very powerful statements in regards to man's overall attitude towards the welfare of wildlife and of nature.

I wasn't ready for Bambi and his friends to grow up as fast as they did throughout the movie. I really liked this movie as a whole.

Yes, it is cute, at times, but, all the same - "Bambi" is definitely more than just a warm & fuzzy kiddies' movie.

Released back in 1942 - Bambi is, indeed, a beautifully realized motion picture. It would be Disney Studios' 5th animated feature film.

Bambi is an emotionally moving and intricately detailed film about a deer and how the phases of its life clearly parallels the cycle of the seasons in the forest.

This film's screenplay certainly has a bit more bite to it than the average Disney yarn with equal helpings of comedy and tragedy fueling a confrontation between the forest animals and that most horrific of two-legged interlopers of all - Man.

(*Trivia*) - Only about 1000 words of dialogue were spoken throughout the entire course of this film.

Originally released back in 1942 - "Bambi" is certainly one of "Disney" studio's more mature and ambitious animated stories that has equal appeal for both children and adults.

In fact, this film's story might be just a little too intense for the very young. But, its fantastic, pre-CGI animation is top-notch all the way.

I watched Bambi recently, after not having seen it for about 15 years. The movie is better than I remember, with fantastic art and a bittersweet story. Bambi's brilliance makes the next twenty years in which Disney's overall quality began to slide a bit depressing, knowing what Disney had been capable of.

Bambi is an extraordinary achievement. It features a number of memorable characters, including the endearing Thumper, a rabbit, who steals every scene that he's in.

*"Bambi" trivia* - Only about a 1000 words of dialogue are spoken throughout the entire film.

When Bambi premiered in London on August 8, 1942, in the midst of WW2, reception to it was extremely poor. It was later re-released in 1947.
