The second book in the Stalking Jack the Ripper series by Kerri Maniscalco, Hunting Prince Dracula is set in Romania and, I believe, is a few weeks after the events in the first book. This book I thought wasn't as fantastic as the first however it still keeps me enthralled in this world and these characters. The different setting is refreshing and with a new mystery to solve for our protagonist, Audrey Rose Wadsworth, this book keeps me excited to get my hands on the third and wait patiently for the fourth. 5/5 Stars. @SeraphinaWilliams of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

Because Stalking Jack the Ripper was so good, I decided to dive headlong into the sequel, Hunting Prince Dracula, as my first read of the year. I was very happy to see a continuation of certain themes, introduction of new ones, and a change of venue. I don't know much about Romania or the legend of Vlad Dracula, so this was educational as well as enjoyable. The setting was delightfully macabre- Bran Castle, with its towers and secret passageways and echoey halls. Audrey Rose and Thomas' relationship was enjoyable as well, if a bit angsty at times. It is refreshing to see a male love interest actually treat the lady as his equal, and not a damsel who needs saving. They really are an intelligent and formidable duo, and I honestly can't imagine one without the other. Thomas' shameless flirting is adorably endearing, and Audrey Rose encourages him with the intent of pursuing a relationship with him. Thomas' social flubs towards the beginning of the story are completely believable for his character, as are Audrey Rose's reactions. I was also happy to see the latter dealing with what happening in SJTR- it was completely traumautizing (without giving anything away) and I'm glad to see that Audrey Rose kept getting flashbacks of the basement and had to deal with it. This is a novel where it would behoove the reader to read the previous book before starting this one. All in all, a solid, decent sequel with a believable plot, a devious mystery and a bit of romance. I would definitely recommend it if you enjoyed the first!

I really enjoyed reading Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco and was really excited to find out that she was making it into a series. Hunting Prince Dracula is the 2nd book in the series and did not disappoint. Its just as dark and twisted as the 1st in the series.
