Jules Mathis comes home from school to find a strange girl sitting in her kitchen. Mae is one of the patients at the hospital where her psychiatrist mother works. She's only supposed to stay for a few days, but soon Mae is wearing Jules's clothes, sleeping in her bedroom, edging her out of her position on the school paper, and flirting with Jules's crush. Then things get weird ... Jules walks in on a half-dressed Mae, startled to see a pentagram carved into Mae's back. It seems Mae is a survivor of the strange cult that's embedded in a nearby town ... and the cult will stop at nothing to get Mae back.

LOVED. THIS. BOOK. It was such a unique and interesting plot that just had you reading until the end. Also interesting since this is based off a true story, which is a little crazy to think about considering some of the things that happened to the character Mae and what this town was all about. In this book there is a girl who comes from an unknown town that worships the devil. She is punished for leaving so one of the nurses at the hospital takes her into her family. All throughout this book you never really know what’s happening to Mae and what her real intensions are, so there is some suspense in this book. Rating 5 out 5 stars
