Found this at the hotel we were staying at in Mexico. First time reading one of Flynns' books. Great beach read.
wonderfull book R.I.P Vince Flynn
Sad he left us at very early age. He was a good author. Had put lots of thinking in creating stories. I have read most of his books. I have just finished reading this book. noticed grammatical and spelling errors also poor editing. I got confused when I read that Hurley joined the conversation with Rapp and Ridley when Hurley was being held hostage by Sayyed? (See page 424 & 425)
Good read if one can get by the numerous grammatical errors, I never realized he succumbed to prostrate cancer last year until after I'd read the book. This was the first I've read by the author and found it middle of the road for the genre.
Another great Vince Flynn book.
This book is so great! So great that it made being an assassing the coolest thing in the world!
American Assassin failed to deliver any crunch time drama. Vince Flynn does not know how to deliver coordinated characters. Usually his bad guys are more believable than his good guys. This book is like puffed popcorn, looking big but gone in a New York second without must aftertaste. Maybe Vince Flynn will learn to consistently write stuff I really want to read. A big maybe.
Kill Shot was the first Mitch Rapp book I read. It certainly is much, much better than American Assassin. But I do not need another rehash of someone whose only aim in life is to kill someone he does not like even if the bad guy is an enemy to America. Keep trying Flynn. Your reputation is high and you should deliver your very, very best to the reader.
Like the Star Wars saga, Vince Flynn goes back to the beginning to explain how we got to where we are. The pursuit, enrolment, training and initiation of Mitch Rapp into the world of Counter Terrorism.
Flynn rights well (even if his copy editor is obviously flawed), keeps the story moving and the reader interested.
Rapp is terrific. I really enjoy these prequels. Flynn always had difficulty with his grammar. His first few books also had spelling errors. Maybe an editor or proof reader would help.
I know that many people (including me) have said that Vince hasn't done his best work as of the last few years, but this Mitch Rapp book is one of his best. Perhaps the decision to set this novel as the beginning of Rapp's career as a spy gave new energy to the author. Whatever the cause, this book is one of his best. Also, thankfully, Vince has omitted most of his conservative social and religious agenda, so that makes it even better! Great effort. A solid A for this one.
Interestingly, this is the 2012 version of the Mitch Rapp/Vince Flynn franchise. Interesting because it takes place in Rapp's early years and interesting because it was one of Flynn's better efforts. Some of Flynn's later books felt like he was working on auto-pilot, yet this one really was well written and back to Flynn's pager-turner style. Overall, a really fun book to read. I rate it A minus to an A.
Another classic Spy/terror book that keeps you on the edge of you seat.
