I am really enjoying my first experience of author, Vaseem Khan: The Perplexing Theft of the Jewel in the Crown. This is an insightful novel of crime and detection in India. It led me to an interview with the Author on my iPad. It was fascinating to hear how he came to write these books and why he introduced such a unique character as the baby elephant, Ganesha. I look forward to reading the other books in the Series.

I loved this charming novel. The story is written very much in the vein of author Alexander McCall Smith's No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency books. Khan's detective is a man named Inspector Chopra who has a baby elephant named Ganesh that assists him in solving his detective cases. I was sorry when the story ended and will certainly read his other novels.
