A look into the history of the development of heart surgery technics told in interesting case episodes during the career of a British cardiac surgeon. The background descriptions are sometimes repetitive, that of the patients are dramatic, the self important personal aggrandizement is something you can skip.
A good book.

I found my heart racing as the author took us from one dying surgical patient
To the next.
This is a real life thriller with patients as victims; heart disease as villain and a brilliant surgeon
As protagonist.
One of the best memoirs out there today.
