This beautiful story educates readers on the succession of Virginia in the midst of the Civil War. The characters are fully developed and well rounded, but just like real life, the concepts of good and evil are clear, but the hard lines between good and evil characters are blurred. Callie has many hardships she must overcome, but her young optimism carry her and this story.
