She's actually getting worse. It's hard to believe. According to the blurb, Anita needs to help Damian, blah blah, and they go to Ireland. They get to Ireland 376 pages in. <facepalm> Trust me, I skimmed. Hamilton insists on recycling every discussion you've read before and - heavens - every crappy sex scene as well. That there may be a plot is apparently not her concern. I couldn't even read this in small installments, because every time I went back to it (that would be twice), I was in the same place: the hallway. SKIP IT.

I found this to be Laurel's worst book to date. The book is some 800 pages long and by the middle we are still trying to figure out everyone's emotional issues and haven't even made it on the plane to Ireland. All the good action takes place in the last 100 pages or so of the book. It was honestly a waste of my time to read and this women is one of my fav authors.

I understand the point of character development but she has so many characters to develop now that it is just out of hand and frankly boring. I am not looking forward to her next book at all.

Somehow Ms.Hamilton has gotten caught up in her polyrelationships all thoughts are on this(sigh).Crimson Death could have been much better minus 300+ pages. Her blog talks of Damien speaking to her, but the book really doesn't truly focus on Damien. I don't know it would seem her best works were her first 10 books. But who knows maybe the next one will be better. If you're an Anita fan by all means read the book it was ok, she's written better books.

She has pulled way back on the sex, but it still takes up way too much of the book. It's either sex, or talking about sex, when they can have sex or who can have sex with who. It's almost like there is nothing else in their life. Nathaniel seems to be the worst, constantly pushing. The plot didn't really seem to advance much, Edward still isn't married and neither is Anita. They are just talking about the planning but it doesn't even seem like that has gotten far.

I really hate how new characters are introduced at the end that will be a part of other books but really only get a few sentences. No real discussion of the emotional fallout of what happened to everyone, just Damian sleeps with her more.

I keep giving her a chance and hoping she will do better by Anita. This is why I now prefer the world of Kate Daniels. I have never been disappointed by any of Ilona Andrews books.

I have read all of the books in Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series. This book does not disappoint either. Anita is off to Ireland after a call from Edward telling her about vampires running wild in Ireland. She brings a few of her lovers/body guards. It took me a while to read this because it is a very big book, but it was worth it. Looking forward to the next book in this series.
