It's been two years since Leo Barnes stopped himself from a regrettable act of revenge on Purge Night. Now serving as head of security for Senator Charlie Roan, his mission is to protect her in a run for president and survive the annual ritual that targets the poor and innocent. But when a betrayal forces them onto the streets of D.C. on the one night when no help is available, they must stay alive until dawn, or both be sacrificed for their sins against the state.

Uncle Sam: We will now purge. We will torture you and violate your flesh. Remove your skin and share in your blood. This is the American way.

Add a CommentGood action, I like Frank Grillo.
Very good movie. Better than the first one. I haven't seen the second one yet. The first was based off a one environment setting. I was disappointed once it ended. Thinking to myself "That's it?" Wasted over a hour of that one, But this one had some funny scenes, and it's cringy parts as well. But a good cringe though. The funny parts helped with the serious parts. Also I really liked the very wide environment. The acting was great. I really enjoyed this one. I watched this one in the movies when it released. I will be watching this one again hopefully sooner than later.
Edit: The second one is better than the first one. But still not as good as this one.
The acting in movie was horrible. This has so many cliche's in it. It's laughable. Horrible movie a waste of time.
The idea of a government-sanctioned Purge is outlandish. But once you manage to get over the silliness in the theme, the film is an 'OK' watch as a thriller.
Stupid, did not finish it.
HUGE!!! let down. not as good as the others, by far ! one or two good parts, very brief. boring !
I watched all three films in this Purge franchise and reviewed the earlier two on the Austin Public Library site. Perhaps I wasn't sure what, exactly, to make of the first two films. The first one came across as an intriguing cross between a home invasion thriller mixed with dystopian themes. The second film expanded the dystopian thimes, and part 3 certainly felt timely: The film arrived at the Redbox ten days before the real world 2016 presidential election. So make what you will of the franchise's politics.
Not a bad way to wrap up the series. The Purge Anarchy, in my opinion, was still the best of the three. This one is okay but as with many themes the novelty runs it's course and it's time to conclude.
A very disturbing thriller! Political overtones and a psychological message to this.
Frank Grillo is an intense action star.
