Decent writing, good sketches (could have used more of them), but an overemphasis on design (what else would you expect from an architect?)

An informative and entertaining history of the chair illustrated with sketches by the author. This reader would have appreciated a Glossary of Technical Terms such as curule, intarsia, marquetry, scarf, and conchoidal. The author provides end notes but they are difficult to read due to their run-on format. Finally, it would be helpful if the illustrations had been identified in the Index by a page number in italics.
