There are so many worn out characters in the book!
Nothing new. Too many clichés, including the ending.
It seems to me - A lot of described things are directly related to the author's real life job - teaching of creative writing.
While not as strong as some of Goodman's previous titles, this one kept me on the edge of my seat and I finished it in one day. An atmospheric setting, compelling characters, and lots of red herrings made for a page-turner of a read. And I just loved the ending!
Goodman is one of my favorite authors who has not written an adult fiction book for a while. Naturally I was excited to get my hands on this and though I've been in a reading slump lately I tore through this in a day. There's really nothing original or startling in the story but this author just has a way of making everything work so well. All of her novels are stand-alone so even if you've never read her, you'll like this book.
