A kingdom with an ornery dragon. Knights and brave villagers who just can't curb the orneriness. Until one boy writes a story, and begins to read it aloud. Dragon can't help but listen, and want to hear the end. But you can't listen to a story if your being ornery. Decision are made and by the end of the book boy and dragon are friends and the kingdom is safe.

Dragon was terrible! - and I mean TERRIBLE. He doodles in books, he graffitis on the castle walls... he spits into cupcakes! Who does that? The knights can't tame him, the villagers can't tame him; what's the kingdom to do? (I have to say, the king's promise of a great gift that the hero will probably love is a bit sneaky - I love it!)

A useful book to discuss good manners with your child.

Dragon is bad news! He stomps on flowers, he burps, he takes candy from BABY UNICORNS! Who (or what) will tame him?! One of my favourite picture book read-alouds of 2016.

There was a long waiting list at the library for this book so I was ready to be wowed.

Well. At best its average. Predictable plot with sepia toned pictures. The dragon is a bully to everyone. He does many wrong things without repercussions. At the end he makes a friend and stops being terrible.

I skipped reading this to my nephew because I didn't want to give him additional ideas to his mischievous ways.

The magic of reading conquers bad behavior!

This is one of my new favorite picture books! A truly naughty dragon does some terrible things (stealing candy from baby unicorns? spitting in cupcakes?!), until a smart young lad figures out how to distract him from his mischief. The illustrations are wonderful, too.
