I was disappointed. I laughed maybe twice but I mostly just cringed. It was quite bad. Danny Mcbride was sort of funny but it was too much about the bible. Two things I can't stand are shakespeare and the bible. Unless it's to say jesus went to tibet and india and china to be a lama, a yogi, and a martial arts master. That would be a good movie.

Question: How can a movie about religious absurdity NOT be funny?
Answer: Simple - get the writer of the of the ultra over-rated Napoleon Dynamite and, just to be safe, give Danny McBride a large part (the laughs he provides are always inversely proportional to his amount of screen time).
The only one who even approaches funny in this film is Jemaine Clement but most of his performance is subtle and in the last 30 minutes (after you've given up all hope of this being worth your time).

What a hoot! Great fun! Wacky, zany, and very funny!
...Unless you take religion too seriously... then you'll hate it!
