Beautiful read, Sarah Dooley's novel intrigued me and kept me turning pages all the way to the end. I especially loved the way she told a part of the story through poetry instead of 'spoken words', as to emphasize the silence in Sasha's life at the time. I would defiantly recommend this novel for young readers in search of a heartfelt and bittersweet book.

A story of bleak circumstances shared just obliquely enough to remain tolerable in the telling, with a protagonist so overwhelmed by grief she can't find any way to voice her feelings except for running away, until, gradually, believably, with enough love and support, she can. Equally painful and hopeful.

I'm writing haiku. Not for English class but just because. It turns out swearing off poetry doesn't work the way swearing off lima beans does. I swore off lima beans in third grade and it worked. I swore off poetry less than a week ago and here I am.
