The Land Of The Forgotten Girls is a sweet, heartfelt book. I love the fact that the main character in the book doesn't have any problem with standing up for herself. A amazing novel.

This story is about two girl from the philippines living in a small town in Alabama with their abusive stepmother. It is a Cinderella story and the author does a brilliant job at weaving magic and fairy tales into the story when in reality, the magic is not there. This is ultimately a story about hope.

Sol & Ming have a hard life after losing their parents, but Sol has confidence and a special ability to make things better with her imaginative stories. Both sad and heartwarming, with elements of truth and enchantment, it ends on a high note. Ages 9-12

Sol & Ming are sisters. They live with their stepmother ( who’s very unkind to them) . When Sol was younger she ran behind a tree and yelled mommy mommy come get me, because she wanted attention. She had another little sister at that time. When her mom says come out from behind the tree, she doesn’t listen. When her mom finally came over, her youngest sister went into the lake that they were at. She drowned. Now Sol is older and will she a faded Amelia in the corner sometimes at night, and will ask her questions. When the story really kicks off, Sol figures out that Ming has discovered the old story (/fairtayle to Sol) she writes to Auntie Jove, and is thinking that she’s going to come and rescue them from their evil stepmother. Sol doesn’t want to hurt Ming by telling her that Auntie Jove isn’t real, but will pressure in her own life make those words shout out with anger at Ming? Read the book to find out!!!
