This book is beautiful, simple, and yet staggering in its scope. Set in medieval Russia, along with a journey to Jerusalem, we follow the life of a remarkable "holy fool," as he sets out to find redemption and healing, not only for himself, but for everyone around him. Living in a post-modern, post-traditional faith-type of world, I found this book heartbreaking, believable in its simplicity and language. This will be one to reread in years to come, which is, of course, the test of a good book.

Disappointing. Long hike for little return.
