A little too graphic for my tastes. Not sure why Hunter needed to get into such minute and gory detail. He's a good enough writer that he could have toned down the murder scenes, and still conveyed the gruesome nature of the deed. Gave up on the book at the second murder scene.
I kept expecting the "nailer" to show up and blow Jack to hell.
Too grotesqueness for my liking. The description of Jack slicing his victims was plenty detailed. I thought it would be based on the detectives work and their thoughts. Guess I should have taken the title literally.
This is a new interesting take on Jack the Ripper.
Between the chilling narrative and often times grotesque description this thriller will keep you engrossed through twists and turns till the last page.
Great read and well written.
I find most of Hunter's books to fall into the very good to excellent range. This novel, while displaying the author's excellent writing style, was a major disappointment. Could not have been more bored. Do not waste your time
Not that he didn't do a good job ... but I still prefer his Swagger novels.
