Greg Proops is a comedian best known for starring on the hit improv-comedy show Whose Line Is It Anyway? and for his popular podcast "The Smartest Man in the World." But he is also a fountain of historical knowledge, a spring of pop-culture non-sequiturs, and a generally charming know-it-all. The Smartest Book in the World, based on his podcast, is a rollicking reference guide to the most essential areas of knowledge in the Proopsonian universe, from the noteworthy names of the ancient world and baseball, to the movies you must see and the albums you must spin.--From publisher description.

So funny and smart. You might not agree with everything he says, but you will laugh out loud and learn some trivia.

Never heard of this guy before but I absolutely loved his book. I live for this type of dry ,mordant, pedantic type of humor. Sprinkle on it a dash of social consciousness and for me, we have a winner. What a great way to learn fascinating facets of world history, sports, film noir, pop culture icons. Well done, Mr.... Proops. Well, yes, with a name like Proops, you had to develop a peculiar type way of seeing the world. Kudos!

Funny in places and smart alecky in true Proops style. The book meanders in the same way as his podcast schtick, but feels a little less like a rant. As with his standup, the baseball stuff gets a bit tedious. An easy book to read in installments.
