"Not many people in the medical world are talking about how being afraid can make us sick--but the truth is that fear, left untreated, becomes a serious risk factor for conditions from heart disease to diabetes to cancer. Now Lissa Rankin, M.D., explains why we need to heal ourselves from the fear that puts our health at risk and robs our lives of joy--and shows us how fear can ultimately cure us by opening our eyes to all that needs healing in our lives"-- Provided by publisher.

There is research showing that those with traumatic childhoods go on to have more serious diseases and illnesses in adulthood. I was expecting this book to be more about how to minimize stressors that you are experiencing so that you can enjoy life more.

Despite her claims that she is not "woo-woo" (her words), I can't agree. This excerpt is from page 108:
"What if, instead of being victims of adversity, our souls - on some level - choose these challenges as a way to help us grow? I once gently asked someone with Stage 4 cancer whether she thought it was possible that her soul and God sat down for tea before she was ever born and decided that, in order for her to grow into the enlightened being she was becoming, she would need to get cancer at a young age."

How do you "gently ask" someone if they opted to get horribly, irreversibly sick??
It's not your fault if you are dealing with a severe and scary diagnosis!
This is what made me put the book down.

Before I stopped reading there were other, lesser offenses, but they pale to what's quoted above.
