I Loved This Movie So Much And I Enjoy The Bunnies And I Love The Art Of The Movie And Some Of It Is Really Sad And I Almost Cried When I Saw This But Most Of THE People Should See This Great Movie And It IS By Guillermo Del Toro And I Really Liked This Guy

WATERSHIP DOWN is a simple adventure story about a group of rabbits seeking a new place to call home -- simple, that is, until you see that it's part political allegory and part POW escape thriller, woven together with a trickster creation myth and the kind of death-haunted theology one could imagine in the lives of a prey species at the mercy of a world of predators.

Is this a kids' movie? Sure, for thoughtful, older kids who won't be freaked out by seeing some of life's harsher realities on the screen.

If you like films about fluffy bunnies, but thought they needed more fascist dictators, you will love this movie. This is a superb film, with especially good voice work by the late John Hurt and Zero Mostel, but be prepared for some nightmare fuel.

A beautifully realized animation, Watership Down ultimately works because it doesn't dilute the violence and drama of Adams' book with a rose-tinted lens.

To echo other comments, this is not meant for young children, so parents do your due diligence. Based on Richard Adams's cult novel about anthropomorphic rabbits, this is the rare non-Disney animated film of the period that aims for a more mature (not "Fritz the Cat" mature though) audience. The animation is excellent and has some similarities with the animated "Hobbit," which was from the same period. John Hurt, Ralph Richardson, Zero Mostel, and Denholm Elliott are amog the voices. This special edition includes an appreciation by director Guillermo del Toro.

I think this is for older children and up . I enjoyed it saw it twice my 19 year old son enjoyed it. there is blood, and violence not for young children, thinking this is a cute bunny film.

A softly told story of rabits trying to make it on their own. The story starts off almost right away. The bird Kehaar is hilarious. The characters despite being in watercolors are vivid and animated. The ending is quite bloody so you do need to pay attention when it says "animation for adults" Adults would appreciate it better anyhow. However I would probably say 12 and up is fine to watch this. (I base that age on the fact they allow that age to play video games like Deadpool, Far Cry etc that are ONLY about killing and no one has an issue with those)

An entertaining and suspenseful - and sometimes sad - children's film that adults can also enjoy.

quite a violent movie for kids...the gore and blood are quite graphic....I did not read the book, but went with the praise on the box of the movie and was expecting some challenges for main characters, but not as much violence...this should be rated PG 13...only after watching the movie, I noticed the snare on the bunny's neck on the movie cover...kids had nightmares after the family night:(
