Add a CommentLike her earlier books. Really liked it till I got to the end....CLIFFHANGER.....now I'll have read again when next one comes out.
I understand that after a main character has existed for so long it cannot be fresh and original every single time and Cornwell seems to have taken this to heart after a series of books that were way below mediocre. Still, nothing extraordinary about this one except the <gasp> ending, which you will find out on your own if you read it. Personally, as long as the book is borrowed from a library or a free download it's fine, but I would feel robbed if I had paid for this book
This book was okay. Not as smooth as I would have liked.
Some of the plot involves action in past novels, and background of her main characters. The title, "Flesh and Blood" obviously refers to Lucy who seems to be the one on the hook in this novel. While reading, I just got tired of Cornwell's use of many acronyms, rifle characteristics, and medical terminology, not to mention the cussing, particularly by the police officer(s) and the fill-in dialogue to show the passing of time. For me, these things detracted from the plot which focused around identifying a sniper who was responsible for a number of deaths. After reading this book, I found it hard to believe the positive reviews printed on the backcover and book flaps. BTW, Cornwell couldn't complete the story in 369 pages. The story ends on a cliffhanger. Readers might like the many references to current worldly issues.
OH PC. HOW CAN YOU DO THIS TO ME ?? WHAT A CLIFFHANGER !!! needless to say , CANT WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE !!!
Predictable and pedestrian. I'm not reading any more of hers.Patricia Cornwell should give up on Kay Scarpetta and all the usual suspects..
While much improved from her previous 2 novels, I found the ending to be weak. She still has a problem with making her characters likeable, but at least this time they weren't obnoxious. For the most part.
