Eh, I didn't really like it. Didn't have a point really. I mean, I read so many books that is very hard to put down and has a story to it, where this one it really was just about a High Schooler, having sex, and thinking about joining the marines. Not my type of book
In a gritty, southern coming-of-age story, Sean Norwhalt has just gotten dumped by his girlfriend who is going to college. His own future looks uncertain, and since he's a senior, everyone is pushing him to figure things out. His only dream is to be a Marine, but his family doesn't approve. His unexpected friendship with Neecie Albertson, a sweet coworker who is partially deaf and overlooked yet trapped in a secretive and unhealthy relationship, spurs him into achieving his dream and making everyone, but especially himself, proud. Sean is unflinching, raw, and honest when confronted with life's ugly realities, and despite his below average outlook, draws the reader into rooting for this unlikely hero.
