"Covert CIA ops officer Vanessa Pierson has dedicated her career to capturing one man: Bhoot, the world's most notorious nuclear arms dealer. That mission has been impeded by the murders of her assets, who were betrayed by a mole within her own agency. When she narrowly escapes death during a devastating explosion at the Louvre, Vanessa immediately suspects that Bhoot was the architect of the brazen terrorist attack. But when a previously unknown militant group claims responsibility for the bombing and promises even greater carnage, she is forced to rethink her initial assumptions"--Amazon.com.

I liked the exotic locales and the pace of this thriller - it's a perfect summer read.

Former CIA agent Valerie Plame, perhaps the most famous modern-day victim of an act of treason, has fought back with the power of the pen. In the second novel in a series, Vanessa Pierson - a fictitious caricature of the author - tries to stop what is the midnight nightmare for many of us, a nuclear bomb small enough to fit inside of a briefcase (the very area Plame was working on when she was betrayed). A mysterious terrorist who turns out to be an unlikely ally, as well a fellow CIA agent with whom she has a torrid (and inappropriate) affair, are about the only people she can trust while she zeros in on the prime suspect, the last person anyone could expect. The book also gives insight to the often difficult but still necessary relationships allies' intelligence agencies have.
